About SoSA

A community, gallery, and resource hub for artists of the inner life.

"When you made visible what is not true, what is true became invisible to you."

Why We Exist

The Society of Spiritual Artists was founded in 2020 by Australian artist Tony Schaefer, in the wake of a life long journey that took him from the National Art School in Sydney to a profound spiritual awakening through A Course In Miracles, and back again to the practice of art.

SoSA exists because spiritual artists are often solitary. The art world rarely makes room for work that is not driven by the market, and spiritual communities rarely make room for the visual. SoSA is a space where both can meet — where the practice of art and the practice of awakening are understood as one path.

What We Believe

We believe that art can be a doorway to express the eternal. We believe that beauty and meaning are not opposites. We honour the great lineage of spiritual exploration thru all creative practice. The work that artists are given and the responsibility to carry forward the Light and vision that will eventually lead away from darkness and separation. We are one.

We are not a religion. We are not a style. We are a community of artists who take seriously the possibility that art-making is itself a form of contemplative practice.

What We Offer

A shared gallery. Curated artwork from members, visible to the world.

A member directory. A place for artists to be found — by collectors, curators, writers, and other artists walking the same path.

A reading room. Essays, articles, and resources on art and spiritual enquiry.

A community. Wherever this grows — forums, events, salons, publications — it will always come back to the simple fact that we are stronger together.

Who Can Join

SoSA is open to artists from all traditions and practices — painters, sculptors, digital artists, writers, composers, dancers, filmmakers — who see their work as a doorway to the Eternal.

You don't need a gallery, a degree, or a following. You need a practice, a vision, and a willingness to be part of something larger than yourself.
